Philadelphia, PA (January 1, 2010): Hudye Farms of Burlington, Colorado and Norquay, Saskatchewan, was recently named a finalist for Top Producer of the Year, a prestigious agricultural business award presented by TOP PRODUCER magazine at its annual seminar in Chicago, Ill., held January 27-29, 2010.

The award recognizes producers who demonstrate excellence in the business of farming, including marketing, finance, employee relations, technology and environmental stewardship. Hudye Farms was among only three agricultural operations selected from across North America as finalists for the award, including Schmidt Farms of Sudlersville, Md., and Donny DeLine, of Charleston, Mo., who won this year’s award.

“The Top Producer of the Year contest is rare in that even when you are a finalist, you are a winner,” says TOP PRODUCER Editor Jeanne Bernick. “It’s a selective honor to be among the top three, to stand shoulder to shoulder with our industry’s best business-minded producers. This year’s finalists are no exception.” Hudye Farms was selected for its unique business model and growth strategy. Brothers Ben and Greg Hudye took over the farm founded by their father, Paul Hudye, and have since grown it into a successful business spanning Canada and the United States. In addition, the Hudyes were chosen for their significant community service efforts with their “Helping Feed the World” food aid initiative. The Hudyes will be featured in the Summer issue of TOP PRODUCER magazine.
